I can only imagine as a bulb, the LILY is comfortable. It is in its original form, where it seeks to remain dormant and sheltered from the elements of life. But, comfort stunts the growth of the LILY.
Every woman can relate to the LILY's plight. It is called a "comfort zone." This is the state many of us remain in, robbing us of all God has planned for us. His purpose for our lives is so much bigger that our comfort. So in this blog, I want to give Three Ways to Break Your Comfort Zone.
First, you need to:
1. FACE YOUR BIGGEST ENEMY
In the courthouse I work in, one of our Judges had in her chambers a portrait which read, "We have met the enemy, and he is us."
I often looked at that portrait and laughed to myself because we often blame everyone else and all the circumstances surrounding us for why we can't do any better. We remain in unhappy jobs. We remain in dead end relationships. We do not seek higher education. I can name many reasons why, but the bottom line is "the buck stops here." In order to break our comfort zone, we must come face to face with our biggest enemy -- ourselves. We are overcomers.
Next, you need to:
2. CLEAN UP YOUR FOUR-LETTER WORDS
The words "fear, fail, and can't" must be removed from your vocabulary.
Proverbs 18:21 says "Death and life are in the power of the tongue." Don't allow your vision to die on your tongue. Wash your mouth out with the Word of God. I Declare Life.
When "can't" whispers in your ear, tell him that His Word says, "I can do all things through Christ which strengthened me," Phil. 4:13
When "fear" comes knocking, answer with Ps. 27:3. "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?"
When failure seeks a voice, silence her with Romans 8:37, "We are more than conquerors through him that loved us."
Finally, you need to:
3. STRETCH
A LILY will not remain dormant. At her appointed season, she will STRETCH out of her comfort zone. She will...
Sacrifice her comfort in order to walk in His purpose.
Talk to Him in prayer and listen for His voice.
Realize her potential and go further to develop it.
Embrace God's call on her life and come out of hiding.
Take hold of God's promises and carry them along the journey.
Create her opportunity for growth when others say it can't be done.
Honor God with her substance.
This video created by Josiah Mizukami inspires me. I guarantee it will inspire you to Break Your Comfort Zone.
