Every LILY struggles through a growth process in order to blossom in her season. Each bloom is unique. When each woman understands her growth struggle, and if she remains sensitive to God's' timing for her life, she will come to appreciate her individual beauty, her "Unique Factor."
I can only imagine that a LILY is comfortable in its original form; a bulb, dormant and sheltered from the elements of life.
In his research paper, “Dormancy and the Cell Cycle,” Michael A. Campbell says,
"Biologically, dormancy is an avoidance response to drought, cold, or shortening days. The dormant situation is a complex set of physiological states and conditions in which plants respond to a series of stresses, such as drought and over-wintering, by entering a state of growth suspension."
The Lily has three stages of dormancy, resulting in growth suspension. For purposes of this blog, we will not go over them all, but we will address the result of these stages.
Whenever a change occurs in the life of the LILY, her first reaction is resistance. In some situations, time is all that is required for resistance to terminate; and in others, there is a need for a cold treatment in order to break the dormant state.
Our dormant state is called a "comfort zone," and this results in "growth suspension." Some of us become so comfortable, we make no plans to move. It is at that time our God will move in a mighty way to "push you into who He wants you to be"
A Lady in the Lord's Yard cannot remain dormant forever. LILY, I'd like you to know that each of us has been planted where God would have us. Click to Tweet. Our dormant state is preparation for our ministry.
In our next blog, we will discover "3 Ways to Break Our Comfort Zone."
