February 5th is the 4th birthday of my granddaughter, Mariah.
This young lady loves Walt Disney's animation, "Frozen." So to celebrate her birthday, along with her cousin's birthday, we took them to see Frozen on Ice.
This was my first opportunity to sit down and observe the story unfold in its entirety. The colors were vibrant, the skaters were graceful, the scenery was magnificent. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED BEING A CHILD FOR A NIGHT.
But, I have to tell you, as an adult, the storyline is gripping. It is about the love of two sisters -- Anna, the younger, who is vibrant and naïve, and Elsa, the older, who is wiser and possesses a great power that can be "beautiful, yet dangerous." She turns objects into ice with a touch.
To avoid hurting anyone, Elsa closes herself off from the world. Her new wardrobe consisted of gloves worn everyday, and her new mantra was, "Conceal it. Don't feel it. Don't let it show." Now, her LOVE WAS ON ICE!
Anna is also closed off from the world, but involuntarily. She can no longer play with her sister. She is alone with only pictures on the walls for friends. Her LIFE IS ON HOLD!
This isolation climaxes into a story that threatens the lives of both young ladies.
Many women can relate to this lifestyle of isolation. When we are hurt, scared, angry, confused, we cut ourselves off from the world, placing LOVE ON ICE! Isolation may seem like the only option, but this, in essence, places LIFE ON HOLD. And the effects can prove dangerous.
Tune in to tomorrow's blog to find out more.
Note: With Valentine's Day approaching, the month of February will be dedicated to love themes in some of our favorite movies.
