5 Steps to Save your Makeup
I can’t tell you how many times I have bought just the right choice of makeup at just the right price, use it a few days and have to throw most of it away because I dropped it. I keep the largest, intact chunk, and carefully walk to the trash to throw the broken particles away.
Now that summer is here, and traveling is on my schedule, I’ve opted to leave behind the powder-based makeups. Surely, they will break and crumble from the tossing of the bags at the airport. I might look a little washed out, but I’ll save money on replacing expensive makeup.
Well, I’ve been saved by Michelle and Carol Tuttle of Dressing Your Truth.
With just a few items located around my home, I can save and repurpose my makeup shards. You can, too.
All you need is:
- Your broken makeup
- Tweezers
- Alcohol or water
- An Eyedropper
- Parchment paper (or a paper towel)
- A quarter
(Place all items underneath a towel to avoid staining surfaces.)
Step 1:
Break up the broken pieces of makeup very fine. DO NOT TOUCH THE INTACT PORTION.
Step 2:
Add a small amount of alcohol or water to the fine pieces to saturate them. Then smash that portion until it looks like a paste.
Step 3:
Place a piece of parchment or paper towel over the entire makeup.
Step 4:
With your quarter, press down on the parchment to reform the makeup in the compact. Really work those corners. Clean edges with a paper towel or Q-tip.
Step 5:
Allow it to dry for 24 hours.
Voila. Makeup Saved, Money Saved, My Appearance Saved.
